Maple Chili Tacos with Honey Lime Crema

A different twist on tacos perfect for dinner time. Loved by adults and kids!

Ingredients
  

Maple Bacon
  • 6 slices uncured (turkey) bacon
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp Aldi Brand Chili Lime Seasoning
  • Oil for cooking if using turkey bacon
Honey Lime Crema
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 1/2 Lime fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp honey to taste
  • Pinch of salt
Taco Filling
  • 1 lb ground meat
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp Aldi brand Chili Lime Seasoning
  • Oil for cooking if using ground turkey or ground chicken
Quick Pickled Onions
  • 1/2 red onion sliced
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • Dashes of salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Cilantro for topping
  • Corn or flour tortillas

Method
 

Make the Honey-Lime Crema
  1. In a small bowl, whisk all crema ingredients until smooth.
  2. Taste and adjust salt, lime, or honey. Refrigerate until ready.
Make the Quick Pickled Onions
  1. Slice red onion and add hot water, applecoder vinegar, salt and pepper. Mix and set aside.
Make the Taco Filling
  1. Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat if using ground turkey or chicken. Omit this step if using beef.
  2. Add ground meat and cook, breaking it up. Add I n seasoning and continue cooking until all pink dissappears.
  3. Remove from pan and set aside.
Cook Maple Bacon
  1. Chop up bacon into bits.
  2. Cook bacon in a skillet until deeply crisp.
  3. While hot, toss lightly with maple syrup and chili lime seasoning.
Assemble
  1. Heat up corn tortilla in skillet
  2. Remove and add crema, next taco filling, then maple bacon, pickled onions, and cilantro.
  3. Enjoy!
